Autorica o sebi: Svoje radove pišem na hrvatskom i engleskom jeziku. Pišem knjige i priče za djecu i mlade. Moje objavljene knjige za djecu i mlade su Tajna ima krila, e-book KamenTvrtko, Kamen Tvrtko (tiskana verzija), roman Kineski zvončići, The Girl With Pink Glasses i Halo, Zemlja zove Snježanu!.Do sada sam objavila nekoliko knjiga poezije na engleskom jeziku, a uskoro se nadam objaviti i knjigu poezije na hrvatskom jeziku. Poezija mi je objavljena u mnogim domaćim i međunarodnim tiskanim i online časopisima. Neke od njih su nominirane a neke osvojile i međunarodne nagrade.

INTERVJU
-Šta Vas je inspirisalo da započnete sa ovim stilom pisanja? Na to pitanje mi je nemoguće odgovoriti, to je nešto što je oduvijek, od ranog djetinjstva bilo negdje u meni, potreba za još jednim načinom izražavanja.Mislim da je zapravo moj otac tu imao veliku ulogu. Kod kuće smo uvijek imali knjige, od romana pa do znanstvenih. Čitati i pisati sam naučila veoma rano, mnogo prije polaska u školu, zapravo se i ne sjećam kad sam naučila. - Da li mnogo čitate? - Čitanje mogu nazvati svojom strasću. Ovisna sam o čitanju. - Kako to da do sada niste objavila knjigu poezije na svom, materinjem jeziku, te da li više pišete poeziju ili prozu? - Čekala sam da prepoznam sebe kao pjesnika i da vidim li sam spremna to napraviti. Bilo je tu i dosta nesigurnosti, jer, toliki pišu i objavljuju. Morala sam vidjeti gdje je tu moje mjesto. Sada znam da sam spremna. Objaviti knjigu nije problem, problem je objaviti dobru knjigu. I poeziju i prozu pišem gotovo ujednačeno. -Da li poezija ima šansi da postane deo masovne kulture ? - Poezija je već i sada dio masovne kulture, osim što je, bar kod nas, premalo popularizirana. Ima ljudi koji potajno čitaju i pišu poeziju bojeći se da ih društvo kao takve neće prihvatiti. Da su čudaci. Odavno je Antun Branko Šimić rekao: "Pesnici su čuđenje u svetu". Pa, ako je tako, ja volim biti jedan od tih čudaka. -Da li ste ikada u iskušenju da se vratite i promenite potencijal ? - Sve u životu ide prema naprijed, pa tako i ja, i bez obzira na sve, bolje je je osvrtati se na ono što je ostalo iza bez obzira bilo dobro ili loše. - Kako to to da osim na maternjem pišete i na engleskom jeziku? - Na engleskom pišem zato jer je sve krenulo slučajno, bio je to pokus, a onda sam, zahvaljujući današnjoj tehnologiji i mogućnosti komunikacije s cijelim svijetom pronašla daleko šire područje koje je moglo ocjeniti kvalitetu mog rada, mada, kad se govori o poeziji, ona je ne samo stvar trenutka i inspiracije pjesnika već i ukusa onoga koji čita. Isto tako, kako je u današnje vrijeme sve podložno modnim trendovima, tako se i u književnosti, odnosno pjesništvu u određenom trenutku više ili manje cijene određeni stilovi pisanja. -Kao što ste razvili Vaše pisanje, unutar proces kreacije literare, da li ste više potpomognuti od strane vaše formalne obuke ili jednostavnim doživljajem života samog? - Oboje. Veliku potporu mom pisanju dobila sam još u srednjoj školi od svog profesora književnosti koji je u mom pisanju vidio velik potencijal i ohrabrivao me da nastavim iako sam oduvijek imala određenih problema s disleksijom i difgrafijom. - Da li osećate da se Vaš proces pisanja neprestano razvija, ili ste pronašli način da vaše sjećanje uvek spremno radi za Vas ? - Da, naravno, proces pisanja se razvija, što ne neminovno. Od onih sam čiji je cijeli život jedno veliko učenje. Nikad nisam rekla – sad je dosta, nisam odustala ni onda kad nije sve išlo kako treba, a moja memorija i ideje uvijek su tu negdje, grade se i sazrijevaju, ponekad ih upisujem kao podsjetnike, kao male puzzle nećeg većeg. Ponekad jednostavno sjednem i radim, koristim to zagonetno leglo ideja sve dok imam snage. - Da li učestvujte na domaćim i internacionalnim literarnim konkursima i što imate u planu? - Da, sudjelujem. Do sada sam dobila više priznanja i pohvala a poezija mi je objavljena kako u domaćim tako i u antologijama diljem svijeta, npr, SAD, Njemačka, Madžarska, Nigerija, Švedska, Južna Afrika, Izrael. Planirati je teško, nije potrebna samo želja - a moja je da napokon objavim i roman za odrasle jer me čitatelji prvenstveno poznaju kao pisca za djecu. -Imate li predstavu o čemu će se raditi u romanu? - Da, prije nego počnem pisati imam centralnu ideju i plan, no, čim počnem pisati, iako se držim zamišljenje radnje, uz sput se pojavljuju i takozvani «rukavci» koji radnji daju boju, i onu potrebnu brzinu ili napetost. -Da li je teže pisati za decu? - Da, za njih je mnogo teže pisati. Oni su neposredni, iskreni i odmah vide da li ih doživljavate na ispravan način. Nitko ne voli da mu se «popuje» a djeca najmanje. Vrlo su senzibilna ne samo na sadržaj knige već i na koji način im se pristupa. -Po čemu će se posebno pamtiti uspeh, sa kojim se nastavila Vaša karijera? - Za sada, to je najnovija nagrada, na koju sam veoma ponosna, dodijeljena mi je krajem ove, 2011. godine, na međunarodnom natječaju od El Museo de la Palabra, iz Španjolske, Kordoba, za kratku priču, do sto riječi, „Night Howl”, napisanu na engleskom jeziku. Ista se dodjeljuje iz fundacije Cesar Egido Serano. Prvu nagradu od 7.000 Eura dodjeljuju piscu sa Španjolskog govornog područja, koju je dobila Rosa Pastor, dok su Awwad Eid Samir Sharifu iz Egipta, Roí Día iz Israela i meni, svakom pojedinačno dodjelili nagradu od 1000,00 Eura te put u Španjolsku. Što će budućnost donijeti, o tome ne mogu govoti. To ne ovisi samo o meni. - Priče iz knjige Tajna ima krila, Div i Snježana, dramski su obrađene i izvedene na Prvom programu Radio Zagreba? - Da, na te priče sam veoma ponosna jer su izvedene mnogu puta i dopale su se ne samo djeci već i odraslima. - Slikarstvo ste zapostavili zbog privatnih obaveza, imate li nameru da nastavite u bliskoj budućnosti? - Ja još uvijek povremeno uzimam boje i papir kako bih nešto naslikala, ali to je više onako, za moju dušu. Vrlo rado bih slikala i više ali za to, iskreno, nemam uvjeta. - Urednička iskustva kod nas i u svetu, jeste zadovoljni sa onim što ste do sada postigli? - O tome nisam nikad razmišljala. Urednički posao nije lak. Ima ljudi koji misle da je dovoljno znati pisati, da je time sve napravljeno. Nije im jasno da je pisanje, bez obzira radi li se o romanu ili poeziji, jedan neprekidan proces učenja i samoizgrađivanja. Meni je zadovoljstvo raditi i vidjeti sretna lica onih kojima sam pomogla. -Za kraj ukratko o sebi i kako Vas drugi predstavljaju? - Jednostavna sam osoba, volim ono što radim. Kad gostujem, predstavljau me kao književnika i pjesnika. Kad se sretnemo neformalno, susjed sam ili prijatelj s kojim će rado popričati. |
INTERVIEW
What inspired you to start writing? It is very difficult for me to answer to this question, it was something inside me from an early age, a need to express myself in a diferent way. I think that, actualy my father had a great influence on this development. We had always at home romans, novels and books about science. I was able to read and write very early, before I started to go to primary school; I couldn’t really say when or how I learned it. Do you read a lot? I dare say, reading is my passion. I am addicted to reading. How come that you never published a book of poetry in your mother tongue, and do you write more poetry or prose? I waited until I was able to recognize myself as a poet, to see if I was ready for it. I was pretty uncertain of it because so many people write and publish. I had to try to find my own place. Now I know that I am ready. There is no problem to publish a book, the problem is to publish a good quality book. I write poetry and prose with almost the same frequency. Does poetry have a chance to ever become a major part of culture? Poetry is a major part of culture, except unfortunately in our country where it is not popular enough. There are a lot of people who read and write poetry secretly, being afriad that community will not accept them and consider them crackpots. So, if it is true, I am one of these crackpots. Long ago, Branko Šimić said: “Poets are the wonder of the world”. Have you ever been tempted to go back and change the potential? Everything in life is going forward, so do I, and no matter what - it is much better not to watch back, if good if bad. How come that apart from your mother tongue you write in English? The fact that I write in English started by chance, it was an experiment, and thanks to nowadays technology and posibilities to comunicate with the whole world I found a much wider audience to evaluate the quality of my writen word; although, when speaking of poetry, it is not only a matter of the moment and the poet’s inspiration but also the taste of his/her readers. In addition,like all other things, literature and poetry are also a matter to fashion and momentary taste and as a result styles can be more or less appreciated. As you developed your writing process, were you supported more by your formal training or by simply experiencing life? Both. I had great support from my high school literature professor, who found in my writing great potential and who encouraged me to continue; although I had always some specific problem with dyslexia and disgraphia. Do you feel your writing process is in continual development, or you found a way that your memory is always working for you? Of course, the process of writing is developing, this is inevitable. I am one of those whose complete life is a great wondering about things. One of those whose complete life is one big learning event. I never said – now it is enough, I never gave up when things were not going the right way, my imagination is always somwhere around, my ideas are close, growing up and ripening. Some times I take notice of events, considering them small puzzle pieces of something big that will eventually come. Sometimes I simply sit and write, using the secret «aerie» of ideas until I have no more strength to do so. Do you attend domestic and international literary contests and what do you plan now? Yes, I atend them. Untill now I won several acknowledgements and prizes and my poetry was published in my country and in international anthologies like in USA, Germany, Hungary, Nigeria, Sweden, South Africa, Israel, Canada. It is hard to make plans, it is not always as per one’s wishes. My present wish is to publish a novel for adults, because most readers know me to be a writer for children. Do you have any idea what would be a novel’s theme? Yes, before I start writing I have a general idea and a plan, but when I start to write, although I follow my own idea, there are alwas changes that are provided unplanned for colors and tension to the novel’s action. Is it much harder to write for children? Yes, it is much more difficult to write for them. They are straightforward, open and they see imediately if you approach them in the right way. Nobody likes to be “preached at”, especially children. They are very sensitive about the way others aproach them. What success will be especially remembered while you continue your career? This is my newly won international prize, of which I am very proud, I have received it at the end of 2011. It was a contest organized by El Museo de la Palabra, Spain, Cordoba, a short story of one hundred words contest. My story “Night Howl”, written in English, won a prize from the Cesar Egido Serano foundation. The first prize which was a 7000 Euros prize, was given to a story from the Spanish speaking countries, and it was won by Rosa Pastor. My story and other two stories by Awwad Eid Samir Sharifu from Egipt, and Roi Dia from Israel, each won a prize of 1000 Euros and a an invitation to visit Spain. I can’t tell what the future will bring. It is not only up to me. Stories from the book Tajna ima krila, Div and Snježana, were adapted and presented on the First Program Radio Zagreb? Yes, and I am very proud of this because they have been broadcasted many times, and not only children liked them very much, adults too. You neglected paintings due to your private commitments; do you intend to continue in the near future? From time to time I take colors and paper and I paint, but this is only for my personal joy. I would like very much to paint more, but honestly, I do not have the right conditions for it. Your editorial experience, at home and internationally, are you satisfied with what you have done until now? I never thought about it. An editor's job is not easy. There are so many people who think it is enough if they know to write, and with doing it all is done. To them it is not clear that it doesn’t matter if it is a novel or poetry, writing is a constant learning and self-growing process. To me it is a pleasure to see the happy faces of those I helped. And for the end, in short about yourself and how others imagine you? I am simple person, I like what I do. When I am a guest writer, people see me as a writer and poet. When we meet informally, I am a neighbor and a friend with whom they enjoy talking. |

Sleeper’s circus
Nothing to hear, no ads, no pennons,
no free candies wrapped in multicolored silky cocoons,
just old paper, leftovers, an outdated program,
nobody selling balloons next to the ropes of the canvas.
Look! There is a strange title – free entrance...
Yet nobody wants to see the clown, the bird of fire,
I, my colored face, funny pants, no safety net,
my arms spread as I walk on the wire, smiling.
Then why I, a clown, had to pay a price so high,
no helpers, girls and valets, young or old...
from the shaky wire I look at the sky,
my shoes too big, my bandana’s gold fake.
No more monkeys, elephants, and that lion with a crown,
always the same faces, the same public, I am not sure
if they came willing to see me, the lonely clown
or just to hide from the rain, feel secure?
I smile, but can’t see their heads, can’t feel,
the past is not coming back, pictures fade away.
My smile is a mockery, just a drawing, but the tears are real,
in the battle with earth’s gravitation I still sway.
I look for security at the other end of the wire,
between the holes I am able to see a blue sky and day,
those who sleep so quietly can’t be woken up with my fire.
Maybe I need to scream, and like a bird... fly away.

Van Goghovska jesen
Oh, kako sam lako i bez grižnje savjesti ukrala komadić Van Goghovske jeseni. Tek trenutak, pet minuta jutra, prije osam sati... ...igru sunčane svjetlosti preko vlažnog lišća kad je Bog ispred mene rasprostro sav najljepši jantar svoje riznice. Morala sam zatvoriti oči, kako bi poslušala tišinu sagrađenu od svjetla i rose i ostatka ljeta utkanog duboko u njihove niti, da sačuvam tu sliku za neka druga vremena. Sada, jedino što želim je da ju poklonim tebi, bez okvira, tek tako, jer samo ti znaš njenu pravu vrijednost. Bablje ljeto Moje ruke, širom otvorena krila na kraju dana, a ja, ja samo tražim tvoj zagrljaj. Sunce, poput otvorene breskve, nudi mi utjehu zamjenjujući tvoj poljubac poput posljednje milosti. Ptice od stakla ispunjene prvim svjetlom zvijezda trepere na zraku, sakupljajući zadnju kap zlata prije ljetne noći. Iz kristalnih krila hvatača sunca polako mi je na dlan sletjela zraka sunca, poput pera, tihi vjesnik bez napisanih riječi dotaknuo mi je prste paperjastim poljupcem, ljubeći me mirisom babljeg ljeta. Moj pogled iznad obzora traži sjećanje na Almagest,1 zvijezde slijede svoj put popout ptica do svojih gnijezda povrh krošnji drveća koje se njišu da svu tu ljubav odnesu k tebi. Na sporednom kolosijeku Ponekad, mnogo je više poezije u usamljenom kamenu pored puta, u bjelini tratinčice koja nikad ne vidi stvari dalje od dosega svojih latica i svog korijena, ili u naricanju vjetra dok na trenutak grca uhvaćen između grana, nego u mojim jutrima kad od novog dana očekujem čudo. Ja sam samo vagon na sporednom kolosijeku koji mora nositi svoj teret jer nitko ne dolazi da ga preuzme. Radim iz dana u dan, tjedni i godine prolaze, brkam dobre i loše snove sa stvarnošću, a ipak, još uvijek brinem o sebi, kosa mi je uredna, dom čist i plaćam svoje račune. Uključim radio da poslušam glazbu ne mareći o čemu ona govori, uglavnom sve je to isto, ali i jedini način da vanjski svijet uđe u moj dom. S vremena na vrijeme s ostacima s dna bočice obojim nokte u crveno i pretvaram se da je sve u redu jer znam kako si sretan kad me vidiš razdraganu, kad vidiš da se smješim. |
Van Gogh’s autumn
Oh, how easily and without remorse I stole a piece of Van Gogh’s autumn. Just one moment, five minutes of morning before eight o’clock... ...sun-rays play over the wet fallen leaves, God having spread in front of me the most beautiful ambers from His treasure. I had to close my eyes to listen to the silence built of light and dew and summer debris inlaid deep within its fiber, to preserve this picture for some other time. Now, all I want to do is to give this picture to you, unframed, just like that because only you know its real value. Gossamer My arms, open wide wings at the end of the day and I, I am just looking for your hug. The sun, like an open peach, is offering me solace replacing your kiss, like an ultimate grace. Birds of glass swelled with first stellar light dance in the air, collecting the last drops of gold before the summer's night. From the crystal wings of a sun catcher slowly settling on my palm, sunbeams, like soft feathers, silent messengers with no letters touch my fingers with a kiss of plume caressing me with gossamer perfume. My gaze upon the horizon, looking for a memory of Almagest, stars follow their way like a bird to its nest upon the crowns of trees in sway to carry all this love your way. On the lateral platform Sometimes, there is much more poetry in a lonesome stone at the side of the road, in the whiteness of a daisy which will never see things out of the reach of its petals and roots, or in a wind’s dirge lamenting for moments few its captivity within branches, than in those of my mornings when I expect the miracle of new day. I am just a wagon against a lateral platform that must carry its load yet nobody comes to take it away. I work, day and day, weeks and years go by, I mix my bad and sweet dreams with my reality, and yet, I still take care of myself, my hair is done, my home is clean and I pay all my bills, I turn on the radio to listen to music caring not what it is they sing about, mostly the same, the only way the outer world enters my home. From time to time I paint my nails red and I pretend that everything is ok because I know how happy you are to see me happy, to see me smile. |
